Draftkings Cash Game Thoughts Week 14

Jon Kelly

QB:

$7.4K Lamar Jackson @ Buffalo Bills

I know some people will be scared of the tough matchup for Jackson this week but I am not one of those people. Lamar has consistently proven all season that good defenses cannot contain his fantasy production. Even as recently as last week against the Niners, he rushed for over 100 yards and continues to have the safest floor at the position on a week where there are not many strong alternatives.

$5.8K Ryan Tannehill @ Oakland Raiders

If you have to save salary then Tannehill would be your guy. His floor is much lower than Lamar for obvious reasons but he has been serviceable since taking over at QB for the Titans. A big reason why is because he is athletic and not afraid to use his legs as he has rushed for 37 or more rushing yards in three of the six games he has started. The matchup is solid as well as Oakland has allowed the fourth most fantasy points to opposing QBs.

RB:

$10.3K Christian McCaffrey @ Atlanta Falcons

I am really hoping that people don’t go back to McCaffrey this week after underperforming against the Redskins on Sunday. Although that is unlikely, he remains the strongest RB play of the week regardless of the expensive price tag. The matchup hardly matters for CMC but it helps that Atlanta notoriously struggles with pass catching RBs.

$7K Alvin Kamara vs San Francisco 49ers

At some point this season, Alvin Kamara will start scoring touchdowns. He hasn’t found pay dirt since week 3 and with his type of usage this just simply won’t continue forever. Kamara has 37 targets over the last four games and is only the eighth highest priced RB this week. With DFS players being sharper than years past, I don’t expect him to go under the radar this week.

WR:

$8K Davante Adams vs Washington Redskins

Since returning from injury, Davante Adams has had 10 or more targets in every game and 27 receptions in that span. He has one of the safest floors among WRs this week based on volume and matchup and that is exactly what I am looking for in cash games. Not to mention GB has one of the highest team totals of the entire slate.

$3.5K Jakobi Meyers vs Kansas City Chiefs

On a week where we don’t have a ton of value, Jakobi Meyers is sneakily a good way to save salary this week. He has 16 targets over the last two games and nine last week even with the return of Mohamed Sanu. The Patriots are going to need to put up points this week in the highest total game on the slate. Meyers is a very cheap way to get exposure to that good game environment.

TE:

$4K Mike Gesicki @ New York Jets

Since week 9, Gesicki is second among TEs in air yards and fourth in targets in that span. He is truly emerging as one of the few viable pass catchers for the Dolphins. The Jets have been very solid against the TE position all year but Gesicki doesn’t run the same type of routes as a traditional TE. He is more of a downfield threat which is evidenced by his air yards.

$2.5K Ian Thomas @ Atlanta Falcons

If Greg Olsen is ruled out then Ian Thomas becomes the lock in cash games this week. He is minimum priced and we saw last season how effective he can be in this offense. He saw four targets last week playing around just 40% snaps due to the Olsen injury. Olsen is going through the concussion protocol but if he doesn’t get cleared then this is a situation that you should not overthink.

D/ST:

$2.8K Carolina Panthers @ Atlanta Falcons

The Panthers have the most sacks in the NFL up to this point in the season. They are generating a ton of pressure on opposing QBs which strongly correlates to fantasy points at the D/ST position. The matchup is good as well as Atlanta has reverted back to being unable to protect Matt Ryan for more than just a few seconds. Even on the road here, the Panthers are my favorite play at the position this week.

$2.3K Tampa Bay Bucs vs Indianapolis Colts

If you can’t get up to the Panthers then I think the Bucs defense deserves consideration this week. For starters, they are a home favorite which is nice but they have been playing well over the last few weeks. They have 11 sacks over the last two games and now they get to face a Colts offense that is likely to be without multiple skill players.
