Draftkings Cash Game Thoughts Week 17

Jon Kelly

QB:

$6.6K Jameis Winston vs Atlanta Falcons

Despite throwing four picks last Saturday, Winston still finished with over 300 yards passing and 18 DK points and that was with only one touchdown. He has such a massive floor with how often that offense is throwing the ball down the field. He is the NFL’s leader in passing yards this season and now gets to face the Atlanta Falcons who have given up the sixth most fantasy points to opposing QBs this season.

$5.1K Robert Griffin III vs Pittsburgh Steelers

Lamar Jackson has already been ruled out with the Ravens having nothing to play for. With that being said, I expect RG3 to try to put on a show here and prove that he still is capable of being a contributor at the NFL level. Historically, he is good for fantasy with how aggressive he plays and his athleticism when he runs the ball. The matchup is not ideal but he is cheap enough to make it very tempting for the savings in cash.

RB:

$10K Christian McCaffrey vs New Orleans Saints

Even at the 10K price tag, we are getting a significant discount here on Christian McCaffrey and I plan on locking him into every lineup this week in all formats. Historically, CMC crushes as a home underdog and the Saints are favored by nearly two touchdowns. Additionally, the coaches came out and said publicly that they want Christian McCaffrey to break records on Sunday. Expect him to be even more of a focal point than usual on Sunday which is saying a lot.

$6.8K Miles Sanders @ New York Giants

Miles Sanders has seen elite level usage over the past month of football and the production is really catching up. He has seen 15 or more carries and five or more targets in four straight games. Additionally, the Eagles need to win here to seal the playoff berth. The Eagles have a healthy implied team total and don’t expect Zach Ertz to play which means that Sanders is clearly their best playmaker on offense.

WR:

$8K Davante Adams @ Detroit Lions

Adams has 29 targets over the last two games and Packers have some serious motivation to play for this week. If that wasn’t enough alone, the Lions have given up the sixth most fantasy points to opposing WRs this season and are bottom of the league in yards per pass attempt allowed. It should be another monster day for Adams this week.

$4.5K John Ross vs Cleveland Browns

The Bengals have nothing to play for but we can still take some pieces of this offense. John Ross saw a whopping 13 targets last week and we know what type of upside Ross has when healthy (See beginning of the season game logs). We may get more salary relief over the weekend but as of now, Ross is shaping up to be a strong value in all formats.

TE:

$5.6K Tyler Higbee vs Arizona Cardinals

Tyler Higbee has now gone over 100 yards receiving in four straight games. He is averaging 11 targets per game in that span. He now gets to face the absolute nut matchup against the Cards who have been destroyed by the TE position all season long. Flow chart smash game is very likely coming on Sunday.

$3.4K Tyler Eifert vs Cleveland Browns

If you can’t get up to Higbee then Eifert is another source of salary relief from the Bengals offense. With Dalton back under Center, he is clearly more involved in the passing game with 17 targets over the last three games. Lastly, the matchup helps as the Browns have given up the sixth most fantasy points to the position this season.

D/ST:

$3K Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens

The Steelers have sneakily had one of the best fantasy defenses this season. They now get to face a turnover prone RG3 in a game where the Steelers have playoff incentive and the Ravens have nothing to play for. I prefer them more in tournaments but if you have the salary then they are clearly cash game viable.

$2.1K Chicago Bears @ Minnesota Vikings

I mentioned in the sports betting article this week how the Vikings have nothing to play for here. Additionally, their offense looked abysmal even with the starters out there against the Packers last week, so I don’t expect the second unit to look much better. The Bears are a nice way to save at a position where you should be looking to go cheap each week.
