Fanduel Cash Game Thoughts Week 1
Ladies and Gentlemen, football is back! After what felt like an eternity of an offseason, we finally have some football back in our lives which means there is money to be won across the daily fantasy industry. To make things easier for you all, we are going to have site specific cash game content and the links will be posted here at the top to easily navigate between the different platforms. While some of the content in each article may overlap, there will be different plays for each site depending on price.
QB
Jameis Winston $7500
Not everyone thinks Jameis Winston is all that good at playing quarterback but I honestly don’t care one way or the other. What I’m more interested in is if the situation he is in makes it worth rostering him or not and in this case it is. Winston was a headache to play last season with the threat of being benched for Ryan Fitzpatrick always looming. That being said, Fitzpatrick is out of town now and the Tampa Bay offense still seems to be favorable for producing QB fantasy points. I expect them to continue to struggle with running the football which bodes well for Winston and his elite receiving corps. In games he didn’t get benched last season, Winston had at least 35 attempts in seven of those 10 games and went over 300 yards passing in five of them. This game could likely get into a shootout and Winston provides a safe floor for cash games because of the volume and matchup.
Josh Allen $6900
I understand that Josh Allen is generally considered a tournament play but the price here is just too cheap on FanDuel with the majority of QBs being priced higher. Despite the low total in this game against the Jets, Allen does have a nice rushing floor and with the addition of deep threat, John Brown, I expect Allen to pay off his price tag relatively easy with room for upside. In the 12 games that Allen played as a rookie last season, he had 30 or more rushing yards in seven of those games and added eight rushing TDs in that span. Rushing yards are worth more for QBs on FanDuel and Yahoo because of the lack of the 300 yard bonus that sites like DraftKings use. If looking to save at the position, Allen is my guy.
RB
Leonard Fournette $7200
Fournette’s price immediately jumped out to me as being too cheap. He projects to be a very strong play in the game with the highest over/under on the main slate at home against the Kansas City Chiefs. Sharp money is backing the Jaguars here and I expect this game to be competitive. Even if the Jags do fall behind, Fournette is going to have an increased role in the passing game with T.J. Yeldon now in Buffalo. Because of the price, I am looking to get the majority of my exposure to Fournette on Fanduel and Yahoo.
Chris Carson $6600
Carson is likely to be one of the most popular running backs of week one for multiple reasons. He is a home favorite and has a great matchup and cheaper price which is what we are looking for in cash games. Additionally, Rashad Penny has yet to prove that he is any threat whatsoever to Carson’s workload along with the additional usage being opened up by Mike Davis exit to Chicago. Carson is a high floor high ceiling play and is at least $1000 too cheap on Fanduel this week.
WR
Dede Westbrook $5900
Dede Westbrook is setting up to be one of the best value plays at WR across all daily fantasy sites and is only $5900 on Fanduel. I already mentioned this is the highest over/under on the main slate and Westbrook is the primary pass catching option for this Jags team. With Foles under center this year, I expect we see Westbrook thrive and it should start this week against a KC defense that were bottom 10 in DraftKings points allowed to the WR position last season. It’s Dede SZN folks, get with it.
Odell Beckham $8200
Beckham is a fringe cash game play on the other two sites but what really makes me prefer him on Fanduel is the fact that he is $300 cheaper than Julio despite being the most expensive WR on DraftKings and Yahoo. It’s no secret that Beckham is one of the most talented players in the NFL. Now he has a competent QB in Baker Mayfield that should be able to get him the ball much more accurately than Eli Manning ever could. To make things even better, Beckham has a matchup with a weak Titans secondary that was bottom 12 in fantasy points allowed to WRs last season.
TE
Delanie Walker $5400
I mentioned Walker on the podcast this week as a guy that sets up with a great price and great matchup but is likely to be overlooked here. That generally makes someone a good tournament play but I am very comfortable rolling Walker out in cash on Fanduel because of the price savings. We all know how Cleveland struggles against TEs and most of the other TE plays are priced in the 6-7K range.
Evan Engram $6400
I prefer Engram to Hunter Henry on Fanduel because Henry is only $300 cheaper as opposed to the big savings you get on DraftKings. Engram should see eight to 10 targets here which makes him a safer play than OJ Howard in that same price range. He has averaged over eight targets per game in games without Odell Beckham and I wouldn’t expect that to change with their lack of offensive weapons this season.
D/ST
Philadelphia Eagles $4600
Eagles are my favorite D/ST of this week on every site. It is always a great spot when you can get a heavy favorite against a bad quarterback and a weak offense. I expect the Eagles to get a ton of pressure on Washington and create sacks and turnovers. The icing on the cake is that Washington struggles in special teams so if we run really pure then maybe we get a kick or punt return TD as well. The cherry on top of the icing on the cake is that the Eagles are only the third most expensive defense on FanDuel which makes them the only D/ST that I would consider for cash on that site.
