Fanduel Cash Game Thoughts Week 8
After two back to back weeks that didn't end up being slates that I loved, we finally get one that is shaping up to be my type of slate. There are a few key injury and trade situations that I think we need to capitalize on this week.
QB:
$8.6K Russell Wilson @ Atlanta Falcons – Primary Target
On a week where the QB position is pretty ugly, I feel good about paying up for the safety of Russell Wilson in this matchup. This game has the highest over/under on the slate and the Falcons have given up the most fantasy points to opposing QBs up to this point in the season. Wilson is always going to be efficient, especially against a banged up defense in Atlanta. Something to note though is that Wilson has added 20 or more rushing yards in all but two games this season which is great to see from a fantasy perspective after not seeing him use his legs as much last year. He is the top QB on the board this week and it isn’t all that close for me.
$7.7K Matthew Stafford vs New York Giants – Secondary Target
I could see a lot of people wanting to go back to Stafford this week after the monster performance on Sunday and I could see why. Stafford has had three games with at least three passing TDs and the matchup is good against the Giants who are bottom 12 in fantasy points allowed to the position. That being said, Stafford has also flashed a low floor at times and has been a matchup-based fantasy producer who now loses his starting RB. I would only drop down to Stafford if you need the savings but there could be more concern here than people realize.
RB:
$7.7K Leonard Fournette vs New York Jets – Primary Target
Fournette actually got a $200 price reduction this week despite rushing for 131 yards against the Bengals on Sunday. While the Jets matchup isn’t as perfect, it is still favorable as the Jets have allowed the seventh most fantasy points to the position this season. Fournette has seen 101 carries over his last four games and is a six point home favorite this week. SMASH.
$5.2K Ty Johnson vs New York Giants – Secondary Target
Ty Johnson is going to be the heaviest owned RB on the slate and it isn’t difficult to determine why. After losing Kerryon last week, Johnson got the bulk of the work seeing 10 carries and four targets. While JD Mckissic is a valid concern for Johnson’s ceiling, the matchup and price are simply too good to pass up, especially when you factor in how heavily owned he is going to be.
WR:
$5.9K John Brown vs Philadelphia Eagles – Primary Target
John Brown has had at least 50 receiving yards in every game this season and sets up to have a monster game this week. Everyone knows that the way to beat the Eagles is through the air but just how bad has this secondary struggled? They rank last in receiving yards allowed, last in receiving TDs allowed and last in DK points per game. Mclaurin, Julio, Ridley, Marvin Jones, Davante Adams, Diggs and Amari Cooper are all names that had 100+ receiving yards against them this season. I expect John Brown to be the next one on that list and under 6K, he projects to be a strong value in the mid-range.
$6K Courtland Sutton @ Indianapolis Colts – Secondary Target
Courtland Sutton has been having quite the breakout season in his second year in Denver. He has had seven or more targets in every game this season and ranks inside the top 15 in air yards. Now that the Broncos have moved on from Emmanuel Sanders, it is all systems go for #SuttonSZN. The Colts are also bottom 12 in fantasy points allowed to WRs if you needed any more reason to play him this week.
TE:
$6.6K Austin Hooper vs Seattle Seahawks – Primary Target
Hooper has continued his awesome start to the season and has seen five or more targets in every game. Seattle is bottom five in fantasy points allowed to the TE position and Hooper has the most fantasy points scored at this position this year. With Sanu traded, it could open up even more targets for Hooper as well. Whether Matt Ryan plays or not is irrelevant with Hooper’s volume in the highest total game of the week.
$6.7K Hunter Henry @ Chicago Bears – Secondary Target
I used to respect the Bears defense enough at home to not want to play skill players against them but that ship has sailed. Hunter Henry has just been dominant in his return from the injury and has 197 receiving yards and two TDs off 17 targets in his last two games. I put Henry as a secondary play to Hooper on Fanduel because he is $100 more expansive than Hooper on this site as opposed to DraftKings where he is $600 cheaper.
D/ST:
$5K Patriots D/ST vs Cleveland Browns – Primary Target
I never pay up at defense as I don’t value the position because of the high variance nature of it. That being said, we need to start treating this Patriots unit as an outlier. I am not saying to jam them in every week (although you’d be profitable doing so up to this point) but on a week where we have the value it makes sense. With Ty Johnson and other strong mid-range targets this week, I’m doing what I can to get up to the Pats in this matchup against a weak Cleveland O-line.
$3.1K Raiders D/ST @ Houston Texans – Secondary Target
This one is just a price play. It would make more sense if salary was tighter this week but the Raiders are still in play, regardless. At such a cheap salary, all they really need to do is get to the QB a couple of times to pay off their price. That could very likely happen this week against Watson who takes the most sacks of any QB dating back to last season.
