Fanduel Cash Game Thoughts Week 9
At first glance, this week looks pretty ugly. We have a few teams on a bye and many of the game totals are in the low 40s which isn’t great for fantasy production. That being said, I strongly believe that these are the type of slates where people who put in the most work will have the biggest edge. I’m very excited about this week and here are a few of the plays that make sense to me.
QB:
$7.7K Josh Allen vs Washington Redskins – Primary Target
Josh Allen is still reasonably priced in a good matchup at home. Washington has one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL. Additionally, Allen has rushed for 30 or more yards in back to back games and at least 20 yards in every game this season. His floor is hard to ignore and he definitely has the upside in this matchup.
$6K Brandon Allen vs Cleveland Browns – Secondary Target
Remember back in Week 3 when Kyle Allen was priced at the minimum making his 2019 debut? Well now we get Kyle’s brother, Brandon Allen priced near the minimum in Week 9 (They aren’t really brothers). Similar to that Kyle Allen week, this week we do not see a lot of value and with all of the good RB options priced up so high, it makes it difficult to get up to them when constructing your roster. Enter Brandon Allen. It’s not like the Denver offense is great and going to put up a ton of points but he is still surrounded by some good weapons in Phillip Lindsay and Courtland Sutton. The matchup is also good as the Browns are bottom 12 in fantasy points allowed to the QB position this season. The savings isn’t as drastic on Fanduel as it is on DraftKings and for that reason he is a secondary play this week.
RB:
$9.7K Christian McCaffrey vs Tennessee Titans – Primary Target
I wouldn’t argue with you if you went Dalvin Cook here as both are in great spots. That being said, it isn’t as difficult on Fanduel to find the salary to get up to CMC and that is why he’d be my preferred spend at the position on Fanduel. His usage is insane and even in a bad matchup last week, he scored 25 FD points. If you have the ability to, it always makes sense to prioritize him in your lineups.
$7.7K Aaron Jones @ Los Angeles Chargers – Secondary Target
Aaron Jones hasn’t been given the full workhorse type of usage that we like to see from our RBs but it hasn’t particularly mattered for him this year. Jones has had four or more catches in five straight games and has flashed a massive ceiling at times this season. The Chargers are also bottom 10 in fantasy points allowed to the RB position this year and the price is very affordable.
WR:
$6K Danny Amendola @ Oakland Raiders – Primary Target
Danny Amendola is generally not someone you want to consider in cash games, especially not on Fanduel where it is only .5 PPR site. That being said, his type of volume is tough to ignore especially factoring in price and situation here. Amendola has eight catches in back to back games and with the Lions having no run game whatsoever, they will lean on Stafford and the passing attack once again this week. Amendola doesn’t have much TD upside but the floor is nice and he has 200 receiving yards over the last two weeks.
$5.7K Mike Williams vs Green Bay Packers – Secondary Target
I understand that I have been talking about Mike Williams for like five weeks now but just trust me. The big Mike Williams week is coming. Williams ranks eighth in air yards among WRs and of all WRs in the top 30 in air yards this season, he has the lowest PPR fantasy points. It’s not some type of gut call or prediction. It is simply math. Mike Williams will eventually start to produce in a big way if he continues to see his normal opportunity. The Chargers fired their OC and have a solid matchup against GB this week so this could be the right spot for him. In all honesty, I’ll be playing him every week anyway.
TE:
$4.6K Noah Fant vs Cleveland Browns – Primary Target
For those that listened to last week’s podcast, you may laugh at me recommending Noah Fant this week. While my original take is still that he is one of the worst pass catchers in the history of the NFL, the opportunity and price is enticing on a week where there are almost no good TE plays. Fant set season-highs in snap rate, snaps in the slot, targets and catches last week. That only resulted in 7 fantasy points for Fant which is why he is risky even with the amount of opportunity that he is seeing. But we don’t need much at his price and he has a great matchup against the Browns who struggle against the TE position. Lastly, Brandon Allen has a history dating back to his college years of heavily targeting his TE’s and Jeff Heuerman is likely to miss this game as the backup TE. The only other TE on the roster was a DNP-CD last week.
$5.1K Cameron Brate @ Seattle Seahawks – Secondary Target
Assuming that OJ Howard is out again, Brate is likely the only TE for the Bucs that will see the field. He saw six targets last week which is encouraging for an offense that doesn’t look to get their TE involved. It isn’t pretty but again, this week is really bad for the TE position…
D/ST:
$4.3K Denver Broncos vs Cleveland Browns – Primary Target
After starting the season off slow, the Broncos defense has really picked it up lately. They have 17 sacks over their last five games and now they are at home against this season’s most turnover-prone QB in Baker Mayfield. At this price, they are my favorite play at the position.
$3K Washington Redskins @ Buffalo Bills – Secondary Target
Another cheap D/ST I like is the Redskins this week. They get Josh Allen who is susceptible to sacks and turnovers and they are just too cheap on a slate where we need value. We don’t need much from them at their price and they have had 14 sacks over their last four games.
